How I Got My First Android Tablet

The ASUS Transformer Prime arrived late in 2011 and really caught my eye and has become so popular that getting one takes some careful and frequent surfing. I tweeted about this site in the past, http://www.nowinstock.net/ that let's you track specific hardware inventory across the web in near real time. I was excited when I found this website. Later that evening, it happened. I got an alert that one was in stock somewhere. I got the alert at 6:24PM and had my online order placed at 6:27PM - Yeah!. I was excited when I got the confirmation email - I finally got myself a Prime! The next morning, I was checking my email account I use exclusively for online ordering, and found out that the vendor I had ordered the Prime from was out of stock. Within 3 minutes! So, I tried again and again until 3 weeks later I finally got, not one, but two! OK, now I need a case to protect it from mobile abuse. I found what I thought was the best option out there - a combination case and portfolio that even accommodates the keyboard. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006ULQPTI/ref=pe_175190_21431760_cs_sce_3p_dp_1

Up next, my experience with the ASUS Transformer Prime.

Transformer Prime as laptop

I am often asked about my opinion on the iPad. I bought the iPad when it first came out and have wore it out. But, it does have its shortfalls by not opening web pages that use Adobe Flash Player or it fails miserably when trying to use it offline and sync with the cloud. I love the iOS interface though. I bought an iphone early on too, but had to return it because I couldn't type a text or even a short email on the thing. So, I used my trusty Blackberry Curve for several years and wore my thumb out rolling the little ball around. Then Windows Mobile sort of came - and went. I used a big brick phone, the Samsung i730 slider with a touchscreen and a stylus. Then, along comes Android. My first Android phone was the Droid2 from Motorola and this device really was the start of a transformation for me. For the first time, I had a phone with a touchscreen and a very nice keyboard. I kept my Droid2 until the Droid4 came out offering the same type of phone along with a larger screen and 4G. I was moving up now! It was then that I began looking for an Android Tablet since, until recently, they really couldn't come close to competing with the iPad. The iPad was also presenting me and a client with some real challenges. So, I bought the ASUS Transformer Prime. Up next, my thoughts on the ASUS Transformer Prime.

Geeks On Call Honda Insight

The first Geeks On Call Hybrid fleet car was on display at Viva! Vienna! during the popular street fair Memorial Day Weekend. Honda has built their typical rock-solid car offering the 40mpg hybrid for under 20K. With the amount of driving we do at Geeks On Call, it only made sense. Look for more of our blazoned Insight's in the future.

Dr. Simon Fishman, Integrated Neurology Services, partners with Geeks On Call and opens state-of-the-art infusion suite and sleep center in Falls Church, VA

Nearly a decade ago, Dr. Fishman,  certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, recognized the need for creating a spacious, comfortable environment for his patients to receive medicinal infusions and sleep evaluations without surrounding the patient with an institutional hospital venue for treatment. Dr. Fishman's new Falls Church medical suite is flanked with wall-to-wall windows and soothing wood flooring, LCD cable TV and Wifi all far from the typical medical flair of brightly lit exam rooms and medical charts serving as a backdrop on the walls.

With the professional services of Geeks On Call, Dr. Fishman's practice operates paperless at all of his Northern Virginia offices. Dr. Fishman stated, "Without the technology Geeks On Call has enabled for my practice, I would not have the flexibility and expandability I need as my practice grows".

As a neurologist, Dr. Fishman is highly trained to treat disorders of the nervous system, which include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Dr. Fishman graduated from Thomas Jefferson Medical College at the age of 23. He completed an Internal Medicine Internship, a Neurology Residency, and a Neuromuscular Fellowship at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He completed additional training in Neurologic Critical Care at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. You may read more about Dr. Fishman's practice at http://www.integratedneurologyservices.com .

Geeks On Call provides Dr. Fishman's practice with the most technologically advanced capabilities including server integration support for his specialized medical software Lytec and Medinotes, secure remote access to patient data, telephone services offering a substantial savings with advanced features, and day-to-day support services. According to Dr. Fishman, "Geeks On Call is my part-time IT department – they manage my systems affording me the time focus on my patient's needs. If you want to be successful, don't do your own IT stuff".
